There’s a First Time for Everything
I have never been a Republican, nor have I ever voted for former President Trump. In 2016 I did not vote; in 2020 I voted for Kanya West. I was convinced by JFK to become a liberal Democrat in 1960; I was convinced by Nancy Pelosi to become a liberal independent in 2008. I’ve often been asked why, if I’m a liberal, I’m not a Democrat. That’s easy: Democrats aren’t liberals, they’re “Progressives.”
Progressives are not liberal. They are illiberal, authoritarian, and intolerant. The first characteristic of a liberal is tolerance. Liberals are always tolerant of those with different views, believing that those who believe differently have a right to that belief and a right to express it. Today’s progressives are intolerant of anyone with a different belief. They don’t believe that those who disagree with them are simply wrong; they believe that anyone not adhering to every point in a catechism of faith in the State is evil. And progressives believe that, since these people are evil, they can and must be muzzled. Their opponents surrender their right to freedom of speech, in part because they use “hate speech.”
I’ve never understood what hate speech is. Who gets to define it? Who oversees those who define it? It appears to have no firm basis in either linguistics nor logic. If there is conviction for murder, punish that crime, Why the crime occurred can be considered at sentencing.
The Progressives have wrecked the country. Reagan destroyed inflation, and for nearly forty years every President since has resisted the siren song of “Just Print more Money.” Until Joe Biden. When Biden took office inflation stood at 1.4%; within a year and a half it was at 9%. Biden proclaimed that he had delivered the largest Social Security increase in decades, without understanding that Social Security increases largely reflect consumer price inflation. That has been emblematic of the Administration’s singular incompetence.
The southwest border has been thrown open and about ten million foreigners from around the world have been admitted without knowing anything about them. They have already cost New York City close to twelve billion dollars and Chicago, which is nearly bankrupt, more than $150 million. They are dropped off in communities across the nation which are expected to educate them, provide welfare services, and other assistance. Part of the education obligation is to teach them in their native language. Thus far there are more than 160 countries represented.
We have learned through various investigative journalists’ work that the Biden administration has been censoring the free speech of Americans, and has weaponized the Department of Justice to persecute and, if possible, jail, the president’s political opponents.
On the international stage we are projecting weakness and have stumbled our way into a war in Europe and another in the Middle East. Enough is enough. I’m voting for Trump and a straight Republican ticket. There’s a first time for everything.
Evidence for their intolerance is abundant in the comments sections at Substack. Their intolerance is stunningly revealed in their puerile words, all peppered with high school profanity. It's a sure sign of a tiny mind when a person relies on crude language to make a point, which they never do anyway.
I recently replied to one of them, a purple hair, I presume. Her reaction was to report me to the Substack monitors. I don't recall what I said to her, but whatever it was prompted her to report me for -- are you ready for this? -- violence.
I was just thinking about this last evening as I was cleaning the litterboxes of one Mr Poopycat. I love my kitty but boy oh boy he has some IBD... anyway, I instantly thought about the candidates we have to choose from. One is just a guy that has been beaten to a pulp by the media, the entire left thinks he is a horrible criminal, the left don't care, they are voting for Diaper Joe anyway.
and the rest of us are voting against Joe to prevent further damage but really, will Don be able to clean up this mess? Not with a bull dozer or a poop scoop.
I will be voting enthusiastically for President Trump, as I did in 2016, and 2020
I am the furthest away from progressive or democrat or liberal as you can get.
I used to be called a "centrist" but now I am an extremist. That darn overton window and all of its hysteria to the weak minded
