An Insurrection is in the Eye of the Beholder
Who can forget January 6, when the Great Insurrection was instigated by Donald Trump by urging his supporters to march peacefully to the US Capitol? Many were arrested, tried and put in solitary confinement, and the entire Republican Party and every conservative in the U.S. was condemned. These people were semi-fascist MAGA Republicans and responsible for every ill ever to befall on Mankind, beginning with the Great Flood of Gilgamesh.
Tennessee House of Representatives
Recently the Tennessee Statehouse was over-run during a protest over gun control legislation. Three members of the Tennessee House of Representatives assisted a group of demonstrators in taking control of the House chamber. The House voted to expel two of the three; the third one denied some of the allegations against her, and the expulsion resolution failed by one vote in her case. The two male legislators, both black Democrats, were expelled. That drew the ire of Joe Biden, who called the move undemocratic. Vice President Kamala Harris flew to Nashville to remonstrate the legislators. The incident that occasioned the visit was a school shooting in which six people were killed. The VP didn’t take time to meet with their families.
I guess some insurrections are more insurrenctionaryer than others.
I thought the same thing when I saw that. I hate that either side is calling either one of these an "insurrection." In both cases, the rioters and trespassers were not trying to "insurrect," meaning they weren't trying to overthrow the government. They were trying to get the government to "redress grievances." But somehow that is insurrection now.
On the other hand, if you're going to call J6 an "insurrection" and set the standard at the federal level that you can throw people off committee assignments for politics and words you don't like, then you can't complain when the shoe is on the other foot.
The dual system of justice is working perfectly. All per the plan. Once we tire of the injustice perhaps we will vote differently, until then....
