Better to reign in Hell than to serve in Heaven
The title is from John Milton’s Paradise Lost. In a soliloquy delivered to Beelzebub, Archangel Satan attempts to convince the lesser Angel that being condemned to Hell but subservient to no one is a better outcome than to be in Heaven but having to serve God. Satan does not believe his own words, but counts on his inferiors to be afraid to contradict him because, after all, they are his inferiors and of no consequence.
That is where we are today in America. Our self-designated “betters” have led us from the most prosperous country in history to food shortages. This began the day after the 2016 presidential election. The Resistance, consisting of Big Tech, most of the news outlets and the Democratic Party, vowed to make it impossible for Trump to govern. Its success exceeded all reasonable, and even unreasonable, expectations. Depending on how one wishes to count, there were a minimum of three and perhaps as many as 15 coup attempts.
Democrats were frantic to remove Donald Trump. He was probably unqualified by temperament to be President, but replacing him with a doddering fool is hardly an improvement. He was assured of re-election until COVID19 delivered the perfect gift to the authoritarians. The worse things got for America, the more the authoritarians gained ground. With the witting collaboration of Big Tech and most of America’s news outlets, Trump was demonized and for the second time in four years we had an election that half of America did not trust. In the first one authoritarians launched a non-stop campaign to ensure that things worsened for Americans. In the second one, authoritarians would not permit an examination of the voting processes to identify where fraud could enter the processes. Anyone asking for it was accused of being a (spit) Trump advocate and told there was no evidence.
The problem is that there was plenty of evidence, just no proof. Evidence that is examined and cross-examined can become proof, but that was not permitted. Anyone speaking up to defend due process was accused of being a Trump troll.
We’ve since been subjected to a series of transparent lies. To justify demonizing Trump, it was necessary to destroy everything with which he was associated. The first one was the Biden administration claiming there was no vaccine program when he took office. Video exists of Biden getting his second vaccination shot prior to his inauguration. The next big one was that Trump was inhumane to immigrants. Biden promised there would be no deportations in his first hundred days in office. That is violation of his “faithfully execute” oath of office.
The lies have piled up to the point of insanity. Georgia’s new election law is Jim Crow 2.0; it in fact is less restrictive than Delaware’s, Biden’s home state. Endless borrowing and printing money will not result in inflation; current rate is 5.3%, a waste of the hard work done by six Presidents since Reagan brought inflation to its knees.
The Southern Border is secure; we know that is a lie. The solution to the pandemic is that everyone receive vaccine doses; infection-induced immunity is far stronger, but is ignored. Claims of “following the science” are bald-faced lies.
Parents seeking accountability for school boards are domestic terrorists, and the FBI is dispatched to solve the problem. This one doesn’t pass the smell test. The withdrawal from Afghanistan was a great success, and every General agreed. In which case multiple generals need to be prosecuted for perjury.
Our standing in the international community has been restored; this lie is particularly egregious, since we asked NATO to support our effort in Afghanistan, but pulled out completely without informing our allies. We were part of a deal to sell nuclear submarine technology to Australia, even though France had an existing contract with Australia. In reaction, France withdrew its ambassador to the US. There is no evidence Biden was aware of any of this.
We’re supposed to believe that Vice President Harris, in charge of the Southern Border, went in search of “root causes” to Guatemala, where she stayed for a photo op. The truth is that the most important export of the three Northern Tier countries is people; their remittances from the US to their home countries constitute more than 20% of each country’s GDP, measuring billions of dollars every year. A few million dollars in aid is meaningless.
At this point I do not believe a word any representative of the current administration says.
Better to Reign in Hell than to Serve in Heaven
Well described. My thoughts are that a Trump, beholden to no special interests, was a threat to the established order. Our betters who are remarkably corrupt can't allow we plebes to understand the truth. It was most convenient that a pandemic prep dry run was followed by a concoction from China well timed to interrupt what was becoming a successful economy ensuring re-election of the Orange Man Bad. That was followed by the remarkable development of therapeutic called a vaccine rushed forward creating a huge transfer of wealth to a few. Alas, it's a conspiracy theory just like 81M ballots for a person who didn't campaign as we were distracted by immediate fear of death in spite of the differential risk. Our media stoked that fear nightly to the point of scaring us about our children who were at minimal risk. When the public wakes up 20 years from now, they are not going to be pleased.
Milton quote is just perfect. Yes, people don't generally recognize the importance to remittances to the economies because in the U.S. not so many support their families in this way.
