Both major parties appear to be in some trouble for 2024.
Democrats face a dilemma.
Most of them don’t want Joe Biden to run again. So, who then? Kamala Harris is less popular than Joe. Pete Buttigieg is the poster boy for the administration’s incompetence. Bernie Sanders is further left than Joe, might get the nomination, Elizabeth Warren is in her seventies, and small business owners avoid her like the plague.
Gavin Newsome has been in measuring the drapes at the White House. If he thinks the rest of the country wants to wind up like California, he’s nuts. No member of The Squad can pass the laugh test. Stacy Abrams is an election denier, but Raphael Warnock might stand a chance. J.B. Pritzker might take Illinois, thanks to the Chicago Machine, otherwise he gets the Left Coast, New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey and DC.
Republicans have only one problem: Donald Trump.
He could come to a three way split with DeSantis and Youngkin. I’m sure Trump can win the nomination; I’m equally sure he’s the only person in the country Joe Biden can beat.
Trump needs to step aside or take a giant step back. Is it fair? Doesn’t really matter. The DC Denizens and the liberal media have shown how nefarious 5hey can be, they will simply up their game. If Trump could park his super size ego for the sake of restoring some sanity to the current political landscape, he could take out Biden out with one sentence “ Let’s face it folks, we’re both too old to do the job.” At this point, I have no favored horse, but I know that re electing Biden or bringing Trump back will not help solve our economic and societal woes. And “we” simply cannot continue so divided.
I have no idea what will happen. I do think the R bench has more capable people. Both Trump and Biden muddy the waters; neither should run. But it's still early days as the media demands and excess of chatter we can ignore.
