Brief Observations on Issues of the Day
Uvalde Shooting
I counted at least five or six separate agencies involved in the response to the shooting, and many questions have been asked. Has anyone yet asked who was in charge?
President Biden’s Executive Order
It was described as Police Reform, which further limits the ability of Federal Law Enforcement Agencies to enforce the law, and was signed in the midst of two school shootings. What prompted it? The timing appears bizarre.
The Administration’s obsession with Trans Rights and White Supremacy.
Transsexualism is real and best data show that it is not more than 0.5% of the population, or one-quarter the number of flat-earth-believers. We owe them support and respect, and to welcome them to walk with us as we live life’s journey. It is not necessary to turn the country inside out while focusing on pronouns and ignoring the fact that LGB are sexual orientations and T is fundamentally different as gender identification.
Numbers don’t support white supremacy claims. Black on black crime causes almost 100% of black deaths. White police officers killing unarmed black men amount to about ten to twenty each year. In the majority of cases the only evidence that a black man was unarmed was a statement by his mother that “My baby wouldn’t do that.”
Mass shootings are blamed on guns, not shooters.
This is a failure of both logic and the fundamental principle of personal responsibility on which our country was founded.
We seem to have lost "personal responsibility" in these modern times. We always seem to think whatever is to be done should be by somebody [else]. The things that once united us are now being used to separate us - our sense that we are all mostly good people has eroded. Long time friends abandoned during the pandemic are a symptom of the disorder.
I agree with almost everything you say here.
This article makes quite interesting reading in contemplating the rest.
