Democracy Itself is on the Ballot
March 2024, SCOTUS overruled Colorado Supreme Court, which had removed former President Trump from the Republican Primary ballot on the grounds that he was an insurrectionist. The problem was that Trump had never been charged with insurrection let alone been convicted. The vote was on party lines, with Democrats having a one vote majority. This decision was later applied to the Secretary of State of Maine, who had declared Trump ineligible for the same reason. Illinois was considering an identical rule and stopped dead in its tracks. Each of these was an effort by Democrats to deny Republicans the right to vote for the candidate of their choice – the essence of Democracy.
DNC Rigs the Outcome (Again)
The Democratic National Committee had authority to allow or disallow individuals’ access to state ballots. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr, was viewed as the greatest single threat to a Biden re-election bid. Thus, efforts were initially focused on him to deny ballot access. Other names surfaced, most were dissuaded from joining the fray. The only exceptions were Kennedy, Maryanne Williamson and Dean Philips. In the end, only two efforts had any success – Kennedy and Dean Philips. And neither was able to mount a true nationwide campaign.
Oops
Then came June 27, 2024. In a debate between Trump and Biden, what many of us had concluded much earlier was made undeniable. Biden was suffering from severe cognitive decline. Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi organized a coup and told Biden either exit the 2024 race immediately or face replacement under the 25th Amendment. Biden exited the race and got his revenge on the coup plotters: he endorsed Kamala Harris for President. The ultimate DEI hire who had kept failing upward, and whose two major accomplishments had been perfecting the recipe for a word salad, and winning the hyena sound-alike contest, became the Democrats’ nominee for President without ever having won a single delegate over two election cycles.
A Close Election
The outcome was in doubt, because national polls showed Harris with a lead. This proved ephemeral, and Democrats’ internal polling never showed a lead. Trump won all seven battleground states, the electoral college and the popular vote. He begins his second term with a firm grasp on the Senate and a minuscule margin of control in the House of Representatives. The Republicans’ genetic inability to organize a one-car funeral has already revealed a fractious conference, and there’s little doubt the Democrats will replace them in two years.
Voters to the Rescue
Yes, Democracy was on the ballot as President Biden proclaimed. I’m hardly surprised he believed he could have beaten Trump. Fortunately, Democracy won.
A very nice summary. I love the line about the "one-car funeral."
The Biden economic policies based on green destroyed the economy. We can be green but not at the expense of most of us.
Immigration was the cherry on top.
Worse, after the loss they can’t admit failure.
