Going to try writing again.
I started writing fiction in 2015, and most of it wasn’t very good. I published two mysteries on Amazon that did well, and another author bought the rights to them from me. Since those two, little has done well.
I’ve figured out, finally, that I’ve been writing what I wanted to read instead of what readers wanted. So, I started re-reading a book that I invested a lot of time and money into, and realized that I let a beta reader bully me into gutting it. It needs to be tightened and then split in two. It’s called “Did You Ever See A Leg Grow?” and is available on Amazon under my most common nom de plume, Mark Treble.
It’s the name of a band formed by a single pledge class to a fraternity, and follows them through the problems of trying to make it in the music business in 1969-1970 amidst the Viet Nam War, Woodstock, the Summer of Love, and before AIDS. It looks at the social issues of the time and, frankly, tries to get too much crammed in. I’m going to have to slice and dice, tighten up, then split it in two: The era of the band and its tours, and what happens to the members after it breaks up.
If you want a free sample, just ask. Wish me luck.
I wrote a 2000 word short story, fiction, which I am totally not familiar with. Bu I like it and you have given me a jump to post it in a new fiction section I want to create
I look forward to reading it and wish you all the best.
