I think I’m ready to write about the racially-charged trials. Or not.
Kyle Rittenhouse:
Prosecutors gave in to the mob and overcharged badly. I watched the videos and I’m still not 100% OK with what went on. Self-defense is very difficult to disprove, and when I looked at the videos most of the charges melted away as malicious. I can’t believe the knee jerk prosecutor didn’t just charge creating a disturbance, which I think might have drawn a guilty verdict, a confession or a mistrial.
Joe Biden owes him an apology. Along with MSNBC, CNN, Joe Scarborough, NYT/WP/NPR and dozens of others. He was a 17-year-old kid who has been pilloried by a bunch of nincompoops.
Ahmed Aubrey:
He had indeed been trespassing in a house under construction, but it is not known whether the men charged had known that. It also isn’t known to me what behavior of his might have triggered the interest of the three men charged. Profiling behavior is most decidedly legal; racial profiling is not. It would be helpful to know which, if either, was at play.
Brooks in Waukesha.
A “progressive” prosecutor in Milwaukee had Brooks released despite overwhelming evidence he was a continuing threat to others. The prosecutor has had no problems releasing dangerous black defendants on nominal bail in the past, even knowing they were likely to re-offend. After all, when they did re-offend it was just one black killing or raping another black. But now, Brooks has killed some white folks. Of course the prosecutor is surprised.
