My Dog Taught Me Everything I Need to Know About How to Fail in Business
My dog’s name is George. He is an eight-year-old mixture of a Terrier and a Beagle. The breed is formally known as a TerriBle. Through close observation of his actions and thinking, I have finally learned everything I need to know about how to fail in business.
Frame of Reference
George has a firmly developed frame of reference for everything in his life. All activities can be categorized as one of the following: 1. Eating 2. Sleeping 3. Pooping 4. Playing If it isn’t one of the first three, it has to be playing. For example, I play the “Big Red Noisy Machine Game.” I walk around the yard behind the Big Red Noisy Machine that makes the grass shorter. George knows how to play that game. He picks up his toys and lays them in front of the machine. Too often in business we don’t have the frame of reference needed to understand ourselves.
Revenue is The Only Important Thing
George is part beagle.
