A new version of the COVID19 virus has arisen in South Africa, with cases seen in Botswana, Belgium, Hong Kong and Israel as well. The spike protein appears to have undergone at least fifty mutations, and evidently will be called Omicron. It appears to be more contagious than the Delta Variation, and it is uncertain if any currently-available vaccines will work against it. The Botswana scientist who discovered this says it should be able to determine if current vaccines will affect it.
Both Moderna and Pfizer vaccines contain ethylene glycol, which quickly breaks down into potentially fatal antigens. I’m neither an epidemiologist nor a medical scientist. I don’t know whether previous exposure to ethylene glycol, a first cousin of antifreeze, could create a problem I do know that I’m waiting at least two weeks.
