The Day the Earth Stood Still
This past week saw us experience monumental events, any one of which would serve as the basis for a column.
The Department of Justice indicted former President Trump in regard to the events of January 6, 2021. In case you missed the events, President Trump gave a speech in which he urged his supporters to march peacefully to the capitol and demonstrate, demanding that the counting of electoral votes be stopped. The indictment carries four charges, none of them for actions, but all for what he said. Each of the charges involves what, to this layman, appears to be protected political speech.
The Department of Justice asked a Federal Judge in Delaware to sign off on a plea agreement with Hunter Biden for non-payment of Federal income tax on several million in foreign income. The judge searched the agreement for the services provided to earn that income and failed to find it. She asked the prosecutors for precedents for the agreement, which directed Mr. Biden to plead guilty to tax evasion in exchange for probation. Prosecutors were unable to answer basic questions about the document. It could appear to a layman that the Justice Department attorneys were acting in collusion with the defendant’s defense team. In fact, that’s what it appeared to be to me. She refused to approve the agreement after uncovering a clumsily buried broad statement of immunity. The two teams of defense attorneys were directed to confer and return.
The First Son’s former business partner, Devon Archer, testified under oath that Hunter and Joe often discussed Hunter’s foreign business dealings, and that the Vice President was called by Hunter in the midst of business meetings with foreigners (to prove access) who appear to have bribed him and provided other money to people named Biden.
For the second time, US Debt has been downgraded, this time to AA+. This will make it much more expensive to raise money in foreign markets to cover massive deficits and loose governance. Of these, this is the most significant event.
For a U.S. President to have his primary opponent arrested is unseemly at best, and Banana Republic-like at worst. The juxtaposition of arresting Trump and trying to defraud a US Federal Judge drops the fig-leaf. The Biden Department of Justice is a mighty sword aimed at the American citizenry. This is precisely what the Constitution was written to prevent. Now, not only are the first, fourth fifth and tenth Amendments no longer valid, the entire Constitution has been torn to shreds.
It is now time for a new Constitutional Convention. Absent that, I foresee a second civil war. Who knew our Republic was so fragile that a demented and senile tyrant could cause it to fall in less than three years?
I often inveigh against the negative externalities of nepotism. In my opinion, if you raise your children right, they should be able to stand on their own two feet and seek their own fortune, not their parents' fortune. If your kid is lazy and shiftless, let them be lazy and shiftless; consider your own worth as a parent, but consider also their worth as proven by their actions.
Let somebody else's kid, perhaps from a poor but hard-working family, take the position.
I seldom receive positive affirmation for this opinion.
We live in a world where the largest bookseller refuses to sell SPIDER: STEFAN A. HALPER AND THE DARK WEB OF A COUP. We live in a world where everything seems upside down. NATO is attempting to create a one-world government and Russia, China, Iran, and African nations are working to create their own version. The Biden administration is wholly the creation of the Deep State, the FBI, and the CIA.
Individuals can only watch in horror - until the anger builds and Americans recall their bonds to Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson, Ethan Allen, and the others who created the unique nation that was overthrown in November of 2020.
