The Price We Pay for Not Looking for Things We don’t Believe can Possibly Exist

A large number of people are so convinced of their superiority that they do not believe that any reasoned human could possibly disagree with anything they proclaimed. All too often, these people restrict their news consumption to what they already believe. After all, the only possible reasons for disagreeing with them are ignorance, stupidity or malice.
I force myself to watch an hour of Fox News and MSNBC each day. The only news outlet covering the southern border is Fox, which has filmed a non-stop flood of people from 170 countries being encouraged by the Biden Administration to cross the Rio Grande, and the states are actively prevented from doing anything about it. The numbers are staggering, 200,000-plus every month cross, immediately surrender to the border patrol, which is overwhelmed. They include children of three to five simply abandoned by the smugglers. The Customs and Border Patrol estimates that for every immigrant claiming asylum and being admitted to the US, about two more simply escape and walk away. Since President Biden’s inauguration we have imported about 1.2 million new residents, uncontrolled. That is equivalent to the city of Philadelphia, or Dallas, or San Jose.
They are crowded into shelters, given health care perhaps, some are checked for COVID but most are not. About half of the children have simply disappeared, assumed to be trafficked as sex workers or slave labor. While U.S. citizens and legal residents are being publicly shamed for not getting vaccines, there is no requirement that the new immigrants be vaccinated. There is discussion of preventing US citizens and legal residents from traveling; there is no such requirement for people from around the world who simply show up. The drug cartels are in charge of the border and are profiting to the tune of $35M a week. Consider that – we have turned over control of part of the country to foreign criminal enterprises.
Enforcement of our immigration laws at the southern border is called inhumane. What does one call the practice of allowing young children to be abandoned at the border by their smugglers?

No one is searched for drugs, and Fentanyl flows freely from China to Mexico to the US. We have 100,000 deaths now annually from Fentanyl overdoses. That represents a 42% increase over the intolerable level just last year. The town of Del Rio, Texas, is under siege. Thousands of people from a variety of countries show up every day and the Federal Government does nothing to stop them.

On arrival, they are jammed into shelters and crowded into cages, far more crowded than ever under Trump. As many as a thousand adult corpses are found in the Texas desert every month. The Biden administration has actively prevented landowners from detaining trespassers, and prohibited state governments from doing anything to interfere with the flood. Guns are everywhere. The immigrants are piled into airplanes or buses and delivered to states where they can increase the population in competitive congressional districts. Local governments are given no notice or choice; they must house, feed, provide healthcare and education to the immigrants at the cost of local taxpayers.
The Department of Transportation declared a no-fly zone where Fox uses drones to document the disaster. This is prior restraint on reporting. Fox has used a combination of civil disobedience and court cases to resist. Try and force yourself to watch Fox occasionally. You will see things you simply cannot see elsewhere. I find Fox as tiresome as the other broadcast networks, and my idea of hell is being locked in a room with Sean Hannity from Fox and Rachel Maddow from MSNBC.
MSNBC actually covered the crisis at the border recently. They brought out law enforcement experts and equestrian arts specialists to chastise mounted Border Agents for using whips on poor Haitian refugees. The problem is that they mounted agents were doing no such thing. The most powerful form of persuasion that the mounted agent has is the size of the horse. There was no evidence of any use of whips, and no reason for the agents to use them. Instead, what was observed was the agents using the horses’ reins to control the horses. But, why let facts get in the way of a good story.

Current MSNBC coverage is focused on criticism of inhumane treatment of Haitian refugees, which actually reflects nothing except ignorance of mounted law enforcement operations and practices. The Haitians are to be pitied because Haiti is oppressive and has had many misfortunes and these poor people deserve to be helped. All of which is irrelevant to the tens of thousands of Haitians who have crossed the border with the encouragement of the Biden Administration and its lapdog press.
None of them arrived at the border from Haiti. They had all been living in Latin America for years, where they were not being persecuted. They were not fleeing natural disasters or poor economic conditions, they had done so much earlier, migrating to Brazil, Ecuador and elsewhere, providing inexpensive labor. They are fleeing economic contraction in the countries where they have been living for years, caused by the global pandemic.
Efforts to safeguard the Haitians, and Americans from the Haitians, have gone astray. They don’t want to go anywhere else, and physically resist efforts to manage their aggressive behaviors.

Our country is being invaded, and the President has done nothing to stop it. Instead, his Department of Homeland Security is promoting illegal immigration and shipping incoming refugees, who are presumed to be likely Democratic Party voters, to where they can be given amnesty, made citizens, and ensure Democratic Party rule forever. There are two significant problems with that.
Article 4, Section 4, of the US Constitution, creates guarantees for individual states. The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence. Twenty-six state Governors, a majority, have petitioned the President to meet with them on the topic of illegal immigration. President Biden has refused to do so. The loosest possible reading of the Constitution still makes that an impeachable offense. Don’t hold your breath.
In 1986 there was a strategic bargain struck between President Reagan and the Democratic Party leaders in congress. There would be one-time-only amnesty for illegal immigrants in the US, and the Democrats agreed to a comprehensive overhaul of immigration law to promote legal immigration and discourage illegal immigration. Reagan kept his promise. We’re still waiting on the overhaul.
I too suffer an hour per day of both sides, assuming the truth to lie between.
But substitute PBS for MSNBC.
I've worked with many people on immigration. It's a complex process to to it through proper procedures but better for them in the long run.
