Try that in a small town
See music video here.
Jason Aldean’s music video has raised a major controversy. On the orders of its owner, Paramount, CMT (Country Music Television) dropped the song from its playlist. It immediately shot to number one on I-Tunes and has become the country performer’s biggest hit of his career.
The grounds for dropping the video are that it promotes violence and racism and was filmed in front of a Tennessee Court House where a black man was killed in 1927. The grounds are quicksand. In actuality, the video condemns violence, never addresses race, and celebrates the joy of small communities gathering. As for being filmed at the same site where a black man died, I submit that there is probably no place on earth more than five feet removed from a location where someone, sometime, died.
Another bad Business Decision
From a business perspective, this is reminiscent of the Bud Light fiasco. Did Paramount not know who CMT’s audience is? Country Music Television appeals to what the glitterati refer to as “flyover country.” Those of us who live in the vast, useless blankness.
Paramount likely responded to a swarm complaint attack. Seems the latest trend is for the activists to pick a target and a huge team swings into action sending many emails. Address spoofing might be involved. Similar swarms existed during CoV to shut down people with the "wrong" views. Unclear if our fine government or other governments might be involved. Nobody is going to investigate. So odd that the tune has been around for awhile but Paramount did help it to get to #1.
The swarms are an attack on "we the people". Much like the fake donors for ActBlue that OMG group has revealed, as if anything will be done. We saw that in Obama's fundraising where prepaid credit cards and e-donations of small amounts were used. Who bought all those cards? I suspect China as way around foreign contributions. Not sure if that method can still be used but back then you could buy prepaid via bank transfers. My credit union still allows me to buy gift cards in a fixed amount but I had to go to a branch.
I remember when I was a kid, I asked my mom who the Dixie Chicks were.
Her response: "They're a bunch of liberal bitches!"
I think all this stuff has been brewing for awhile now.
