Where to go from here?
That’s the big question. The current administration has stumbled from mistake to catastrophe, rinse and repeat, since January 20, 2021. First thing was executive orders reversing as much as possible of Trump’s policies that had brought prosperity to our nation. In a single day we lost energy independence, gave corporate media the power to destroy the First Amendment, encouraged race-based violence, let a Hungarian immigrant destroy our legal system, adopted a new national mantra (“the USA is a fundamentally racist country”), and turned the country into an authoritarian state. Then we opened our southern border to anyone who wanted to come to the US for any reason.
From Healing to Divisiveness
On that day, we heard words promising healing, unity, and an end to divisiveness. As soon as the newly-inaugurated President finished speaking, his actions began repudiating his words. With full control of the Executive and Legislative branches, Biden set out on a course that risked destroying the country and established an authoritarian state. We destroyed the world economy in return for reducing deaths from COVID19 by 0.2%.
With unconstitutional emergency powers in hand, many governors went essentially power-mad, and ordered businesses that did not support them to close, while letting constituent businesses remain open. Nowhere was this more evident than in surgery. Hospitals were ordered not to perform elective surgeries, fearing that this would lead to spread of Coronavirus19. Abortion clinics were free to remain open and offer elective abortion on demand. Surgery to protect a woman’s right to choose is the definition of “elective,” but it pandered to the fringe that does not want any abortion under any condition denied.
Then we lurched to vaccine mandates. The new President denied there were any vaccines when he took office, despite a video showing him being vaccinated weeks before his inauguration. He then began attacking anyone who did not wish to be vaccinated. Businesses were ordered to close for a virus with a case fatality rate of less than one-half of one percent. Individual workers who had not been vaccinated were ordered fired. Rent was ordered cancelled nationwide.
Mandates, Kamala and other Horror Stories
Religious services were ordered cancelled and where permitted, h made one subject to arrest for singing. We began printing money with little understanding of the impact. Money was parceled out on racial and political bases. And the trillions of dollars kept coming.
The Vice President was chosen based on skin color and genitalia, despite not making it beyond the first few months of the campaign. We, the American people, agree that there is no reason to deny someone the Vice Presidency based on sex. Most of us also rule out sex as a reason to vote for a candidate. Kamala Harris has been given a serious portfolio and has failed utterly at every step. The administration is in thrall to the far-left progressive wing of the Democratic Party, which is committed to converting the US to a non-carbon-emitting nation of electric vehicle drivers. These people are nuts. The electricity doesn’t magically appear in the battery, it must be created somewhere first. If that place of generation isn’t nuclear or hydropower, then the power plant emits carbon. Emission shifting is not emission reduction.
The batteries themselves require rare earths to construct, which must be imported from Africa or China. Other countries’ thus gain greater leverage over the US. This list is near-endless.
Bumbling Us into a Nuclear War
Now they’ve bumbled us into the possibility of nuclear war. We wanted to harm Russia, so we kicked them out of the global payments system. Oops, China opened a competing global payments system, and Russia and India promptly joined. The largest producers in the world won’t answer Biden’s call, and that is traceable to a single cause: Obama, and now Biden, trying to ensure that Iran gets a nuclear weapon. Both the UAE and Saudi Arabia cannot ignore that.
The world’s largest oil reserves are in Venezuela, which today is virulently anti-American. Joe Biden is viewed as weak, and Venezuela will not voluntarily sell us oil. We’ve shut down our own oil production as well as the safest way to transport Canadian shale oil to the US, the XL pipeline. We allowed Russia to build two LNG pipelines to deliver energy to Western Europe. I suppose Switzerland will be happy to support us, it just doesn’t have any oil.
Right now I am rewatching the old version of All Creatures Great and Small and playing with a new puppy. I have not watched TV or read anything but headlines and a few substacks. Everyone I know is raising money for Ukraine. I read Alas Babylon when I was young and I am not going to think abt what these fools are doing.
Quite an exposition, kind sir. Often on Twitter and on Newsweek I can see the army of fools arrive to attempt their slash and burn. We decrepit old fellows see the destruction of a great experiment as the young imagine the perfection of socialism. The promised world is a myth proven by history that so many refuse to examine. They became convinced that our founders were evil slaveholders, despite all the solid evidence they refuse to examine. Our founders studied failures of the past and did their best to create a unique system of government that has been eroded steadily over some 200 years. Worse, those who participated in the erosion claim to have read the great works of history. My hopes are with the young still, in that many are coming to see their elders have failed them. As they have children themselves and see what our schools are doing, they respond in anger for change.
Take heart, a judge recently was brave enough to declare that law students who attack free speech should not be qualified to practice law. As if the head masters might listen. 'Tis Spring, and hope arrives anew.
P.S. : The canard illegitimate sandpaper comes to mind.
